The Advanced tab allows you to set the following:

Preferences

·System Mode Note that this change can only be performed by the system administrator and is performed globally. For more information, see Selecting the System Mode.
·RCS suffix - By default, RCS files are created with a ".v" suffix. This is the convention used by GNU RCS on UNIX machines. If you have existing RCS files with another suffix (or with no suffix) and do not want to rename the files, then you can change the default CS-RCS suffix. Note that this change can only be performed by the system administrator and is performed globally.
·Cache directory location - Define the location of the directory containing the CS-RCS cache files. This feature is only available when the 'Change Globally' option is deselected and any change made is applied locally only.
·Ignore long extensions - Set a value to set the maximum extension length allowed for files accepted by CS-RCS. CS-RCS will ignore new files with extension longer than this value. Note that this change can only be performed by the system administrator and is performed globally.
·Display ignored files - You may define specific extensions that are ignored by CS-RCS in the File types tab. Enable this option if you want the Document Explorer window to include ignored files which have already been added to the RCS.
·Always sort by Status - When the Document Explorer tool is activated, files are sorted by the Status column. This enables you to quickly recognize those files which require need special handling. Clear this feature if you wish to sort by the last key used on the project.
·Load on Setup - Load CS-RCS on workstation startup. This is the default for normal users. However, mobile users may want to disable this feature.
·Unload when inactive - CS-RCS is unloaded from memory if it has been inactive for a certain number of minutes. Set this number to the minimum if you are not using CS-RCS on permanent basis.
·Hide inaccessible projects - By default, CS-RCS displays all project names in the Project Library dialog. Experienced users may want to set this feature to True for better security. This will hide the project name from users who are unauthorized to access the project. Note that this change can only be performed by the system administrator and is performed globally.

Integration

·Show Document Archive desktop icon - CS-RCS creates a 'Document Archive' icon on the desktop during installation. Select this option to set the icon state.
·Support Windows Explorer integration - Enable or disable CS-RCS integration with Windows Explorer. This integration enables access to CS-RCS functionality using right-click in your Windows Explorer. Users with slow connection to the repository may want to disable this feature.
·Support MS-Word integration - Enable or disable CS-RCS integration with MS-Word. This integration enables access to CS-RCS functionality from a RCS menu which is added to the MS-Word toolbar.
·Support MS-Excel integration - Enable or disable CS-RCS integration with MS-Excel. This integration enables access to CS-RCS functionality from a RCS menu which is added to the MS-Excel toolbar.
·Support OpenOffice integration - Enable or disable CS-RCS integration with Writer and Calc OpenOffice components. This integration enables access to CS-RCS functionality from a RCS menu which is added to the toolbar.
·Support SCC integration - Enable or disable CS-RCS integration with development tools that support the Microsoft SCC API. This integration lets you access CS-RCS functionality directly from the development tool. You may disable this option if you wish to work with another SCC-complaint tool installed on your system. You may still use CS-RCS from the Document Explorer window.
·Check for software upgrades - Enable or disable automatic notifications on CS-RCS core package and add-ons software upgrades.
·Add-on download URL - By default, the add-ons and software updates are downloaded form the ComponentSoftware web site. You may consider downloading the registered add-ons to your local network in order to speed up the download time for all other users. This option also gives the administrator better control on which versions are used by the users. You may specify any Internet server location, e.g. http://yourserver.com/csrcs or any network path e.g. \\server\csrcs.

Email Properties

·SMTP Server - Server used for sending email notifications. If no server is defined, emails will be sent using ComponentSoftware's email processor.

Color Settings

·Text/Background Color for Normal items - This color setting affects the presentation of items in CS-RCS with the following states: Archived, Blocked, Deleted and Locked.
·Text/Background Color for Action items - This color setting affects the presentation of items in CS-RCS with the following states: Added on Branch, New, Not in Archive, Modified, Modified (Unlocked), Modified (Automerge), Updated and Modified (Merge not needed).
·Text/Background Color for Alert items - This color setting affects the presentation of items in CS-RCS with the following states: Modified (Manual Merge), Modified (Merge Conflict) and Unknown.

If no changes are made to the CS-RCS Properties, then all values are taken from the globally defined system properties.
Changes made in the Advanced tab affect the local workstation only.

The system administrator has the ability to select 'Change Globally'. This sets the global values for the CS-RCS properties.
Press 'Reset' to retrieve the global values on each workstation.

Click OK to save the new settings.
