You may perform an environment test for the RCSBrowser setup in the following methods:

From the login screen of the client, click Test Environment. A new window opens and the test is performed automatically.

OR

Type http://ServerName/VirtualDir/asp/admin/indexadm.asp in your Internet Browser. Press Site Test to perform the test.
For example, to test the ComponentSoftware RCSBrowser demo site, type: http://www.componentsoftware.com/RCSBrowser/asp/admin/indexadm.asp

If this is the first time you are accessing RCSBrowser, a browser security warning will appear regarding downloading a file called 'CSRCSBrowser.cab'. This control is necessary in order to utilize a mjority of the RCSBrowser functionality. (If you do not install this ActiveX control, you may still use RCSBrowser in a limited mode.)

If any of the items in the test list appear with the word 'error' next to them, correct these items according to the error explanation at the bottom of the screen. Errors are divided to 3 categories:

·Errors starting with 'CLIENT:' - You selected not to install the RCSBrowser ActiveX Control when prompted by the Internet browser. This means RCSBrowser is running in a limited mode and is unable to perform the test. If you do not wish to work in limited mode, click F5. You will receive a message regarding downloading of the ActiveX control. Answer 'Yes' to this.
·Errors starting with 'SETUP:' indicate server setup problems. The CS-RCS administrator needs to re-install the RCSBrowser add-on on the server.
·Errors starting with 'ACCESS:' indicate server access permission problems. Often, the test specifies the folder that is causing the problem. The CS-RCS administrator needs to make sure that Internet users have read and write access to the C:\RCSBrowser folder and to the CS-RCS Repository folder.

Notes:
1.To set the access, right-click on the folder and click Properties. Switch to the Security tab. (In Windows XP, you may enable the Security tab by selecting the Tools | Folder options menu in the Windows Explorer. Switch to the View tab and clear the 'Use simple file sharing' option.)
2.Set the Full control permission for the 'Everyone' or 'Users' group.
3.For better security, you may clear the Write permission of the C:\RCSBrowser\Asp folder.

Press 'Site Test' to repeat this test after you have performed any changes to the server.
