Checking-In Files
Top  Previous  Next

The check-in command is used to commit your changes to the repository. In workgroup mode, it is also used to unlock files so other users may edit the files. Multiple file check-in is possible by selecting several files and checking them all in together. This is useful when several files have been changed and you wish to group them under the same change title.

1.Select the desired files or folders in the Document Explorer or Windows Explorer and right-click.
2.Select Check-in.

OR

From the Project menu in the Document Explorer, select Check-in.

OR

From the Project tree in the Document Explorer, Right-click on the desired project or folder and select Check-in.

This option checks-in all the files which have been modified.
The Check-in dialog appears:

The top line in the dialog tells you how many of the selected files will be checked-in.

·Add x new file(s) to the RCS repository - This option is only shown when there are selected files which have not been added to the RCS repository.
·Click Select files in order to select which files you want to check-in or add to repository. This option opens a Folder Status Window. Refer to Folder Status Window later in this chapter for more information.
·Description and comments - On the first line, provide a short sentence that is used as the revision title. If needed, you can provide additional details on further lines.
·Symbolic Name – You may enter a symbolic name for the checked-in files. This feature is normally used by RCS experts only.
·Retain lock - Keep the files locked to permit further editing. This feature is enabled on Workgroup mode only.
·Review Changes - Review changes made in the modified files. If more than one file has been assigned to check-in, the following dialog appears:

By clicking Review changes, you may select a file and review the changes made to it since the last revision. For more information, see Using the CSDiff File Comparison Tool in CS-RCS Tools.
