In many situations, different projects may share files that are identical. Version 1.0 of Team Foundation Server (TFS) does not support this feature and all copies of a shared file require manual update.

The TFSLinks product maintains the relations between shared files and automatically updates all instances whenever a new revision is checked-in to any copy of the shared file.
