Why is the Microsoft Word integration not working?
Top  Previous  Next

Activate the Microsoft Word integration. (see previous FAQ).
Restart MS-Word.
You should now see a new menu named RCS added to the MS-Word menu bar.

If this does not work, locate the MS-Word startup folder:

For users using MS-Office 2000 and above
The MS-Word startup folder should be located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
(Replace '[user name]' with your windows user name and make sure the drive letter matches that of where your operating system is installed.)

For users using MS-Office 97

1.From the Start menu, click Run.
2.Enter regedit.
3.Click OK.
The Registry Editor dialog box appears.
4.Examine the directory location of:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Word\Options]
STARTUP-PATH = "??"
In the English version of Office/Windows, the Microsoft Word startup folder is usually located in: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\STARTUP".
In the German version of Office/Windows the Microsoft Word startup folder is usually located in: "C:\Programme\Microsoft Office\Office\STARTUP".
In the Dutch version of Office/Windows the Microsoft Word startup folder is usually located in: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WRDSTART".
5. Exit regedit.

To activate the MS-Word integration manually:

1.From Windows Explorer, copy C:\Program Files\ComponentSoftware\CS-RCS\System\CSRCS.DO_ to the MS-Word startup folder.
2.In the MS-Word startup folder, rename the file to CSRCS.DOT
3.Restart MS-Word. You should now see a new menu named RCS added to the MS-Word menu bar.

Note: The same applies to the MS-Excel integration. You should rename CSRCS.XL_ to CSRCS.XLA and put it in the MS-Excel startup folder.
