Checking-In a New Revision of a File
Top  Previous  Next

Whenever a file has been significantly edited, re-enter it into the Repository. When you enter a file to the Repository, it is checked-in.

To check-in a new revision:
1.From the Windows Explorer, right-click TEST.TXT.
The right-click menu appears.
2.From the right-click menu, click Check-in.
The following dialog box appears:

3.Enter a description in the Description and comments field. On the first line, provide a short sentence that is used as the revision title. If needed, you can provide additional details on further lines.
4.To review the changes made to TEST.TXT, click Review changes. The CSDiff tool lists the differences between the last checked-in version and the current working version of the file. You may navigate through the changes and verify the changes before checking it in to the repository. You may also use the CSDiff Edit Mode to accept or reject changes which are to be included in the check-in. For more information, see Using the CSDiff File Comparison Tool in CS-RCS Tools or click 'F1'.
5.To allow other users in a workgroup environment to edit TEST.TXT after it is checked-in, uncheck Retain Lock. (This option is always selected in a single-user environment.)
6.Click OK.

For more details on the Check-in Dialog, refer to Checking-in Files in Using the Document Explorer Tool in the CS-RCS Tools in the User Guide or click F1 to invoke the dialog on-line help.
