Configuring the Notification Properties
Top  Previous  Next

Use the Notify tab of the Project Properties dialog box to edit the email notification properties.
Email notifications let you send email messages to predefined user groups when specific events occur.
In addition, visual change reports are available as mail attachments when check-in operations have been performed.

Note:
·To define the SMTP server to be used for sending email messages, see Configuring the Advanced Properties in Customizing CS-RCS. Email will be sent using ComponentSoftware email system (over http protocol) if no SMTP server is defined.
·Email notifications are sent in the background and may take up to 2 minutes before they are actually sent.

Define new groups

To define a new group:
1.Click Add and type in the name of the group you wish to create.
2.Click Members in the Edit Group dialog and mark all users you wish to add to the group. In order to receive email notifications, the user's email address has to be defined in the User Details dialog. For more information, see Configuring the Users.

Settings applied to the 'Everyone' group will apply to all CS-RCS users.
Settings applied to the 'Event Log' group will determine the events that are recorded in the Project Events log file. For more information, see Project Events Log in Using the Document Explorer Tool later in the Users Guide.

The 'Group' window contains the same groups which are defined in the Security tab. To change security settings of a specific group defined in the Notification tab, switch to the Security tab.

Notification Properties
Notification Properties define for which events the selected group should receive email notifications.
·Select Create to notify the group whenever a user creates a new file in the project.
·Select Check-in to notify the group whenever a user checks-in any changed files in the project.
·Select Unlock or Lock to notify the group whenever the lock status of a file is changed.
·Select Delete to notify the group whenever a user deletes a file from the project.
·Select Rename to notify the group whenever a user renames a file in the project.

Attach file comparison
Select Attach file comparison to add a difference report as an attachment when Check-in notification has been selected.

The difference report can be sent in one of two Comparison modes - classical diff format or in HTML friendly format.
In the Wrapping Lines box, select the number of unchanged lines which will surround the modified lines in HTML friendly format.
Note that Comparison Mode and Wrapping lines are project-wide settings and cannot be defined per group.
