The File Menu
Top  Previous  Next

The File menu gives two different menus, depending on whether a file has been selected or not.
If a file is selected, the File menu enables you to perform the following:
·Click Open to open the document with the application associated with the Windows Explorer Open command.
·Click View to view the document head revision with the CS-RCS associated viewer set in the File Types tab of the Properties dialog box. By default, this invokes the View Revision dialog which enables viewing of a document by either using user-selected applications or annotating sections by author, date and revision number. For more information, refer to View Revision Dialog.
Note: When a document is double-clicked, the Open command is executed if the file is editable. If not, the View command is executed.
·Click RCS Status to examine the RCS status of the selected file.
·Click Check-out to get the head revision of the selected file. In a workgroup environment, using this command also locks/unlocks the file.
·Click Check-in to check-in the changes of the selected file.
·Click Revision History to view, retrieve, and compare the revisions of the selected file.
·Click Delete to delete the selected file.
·Click Rename to rename the selected file or move it to another folder.
·Click Set Title to set the description of the selected file. This description is displayed in reports and when you place your cursor over the document name.

The following options are shown independent of whether a file is selected or not.
·Click Add File(s) to add new documents to the RCS Repository.
Note: When using the local RCS directories option, select a single file to add the complete RCS directory to the Document Explorer.
·Click Folder Status to see the status of the files within your working directory and add the files which are currently not controlled by RCS. See Folder Status Window later in this chapter for more information.
·Click Add Folder to add all files within a folder hierarchy to the RCS Repository.
Note: Use the File Types tab of the Properties dialog box to exclude certain file-types. For more information, refer to Configuring the File Type in Customizing CS-RCS.
·Click Exit to close the Document Explorer.
