The CS-CVS solution is an add-on package that is integrated into CS-RCS Pro to provide access to remote CVS projects. As the RCSBrowser add-on is more powerful and simpler to configure, it is highly recommended to use the RCSBrowser for accessing co-located projects unless there is already an active CVS server in your company.
Note: If you currently do not need remote access to projects and extended security, you may skip this chapter. You may add CS-CVS to your existing setup at any time in the future.

The benefits of CS-CVS are:
·Co-located projects
CS-RCS supports in-site projects and small network projects stored on FTP or NetBIOS servers.
CS-CVS implements Client-Server architecture which provides optimized access to co-located projects over corporate networks, VPN and the Internet.

·Security
CS-RCS supports security settings which are sufficient in most scenarios. However, as the repository resides on a shared server drive, it may be exposed to unauthorized access by non-cooperative team members.

The CS-CVS Client-Server architecture protects the repository from any unauthorized and undesired change as required by mission-critical projects.

On both solutions, the server security features protect the repository from any unauthorized access by non-team members and external users

·Access existing CVS repositories
You may share projects with teams already using CVS on UNIX or other platforms

You may easily upgrade to CS-CVS at any stage if extended security and networking support is required for your projects.

CS-CVS support is available in CS-RCS Pro only.
