Upgrade Notes for Users of Previous Releases The RCS files are compatible
with all releases of CS-RCS. However, the setup files created by
CS-RCS might not be compatible with previous releases of CS-RCS.
-
You may upgrade any workstation to the new release. This won't affect
existing workstations.
* - The
versions you chosen are not compatible. Please refer to the instructions
below.
If you wish to evaluate this release while other users continue working with the
existing setup, please follow these steps:
- Select any workstation. Verify the current version of CS-RCS is installed correctly on this workstation
and that you are able to access the repository.
- Perform Master setup with the new version. Specify an alternative folder as the desired repository root.
- At the end of the setup process, answer No to the "Would
you like to copy all RCS files?" question and then Yes to the "Would
you like to map all projects to the exiting repository files?" question. (This will upgrade your existing setup to the alternative repository. It will also adjust all original Central Repository projects to Alternate Repository projects mapped to the existing repository tree.)
-
If you wish, you may install other workstations.
Click "Workstation" on the first setup screen. When requested,
select the new repository path.
- Create a test project and get familiar with the new functionality.
- Now, you may manipulate existing projects. This will not affect users working with the old setup.
If you wish to upgrade your setup to
the a newer release, please follow these steps:
- To be on the safe side, make a backup of the repository.
- On the Master workstation, open the CS-RCS Properties. Make sure you can see all projects. Click OK.
- Install the Master workstation using the new version by running SETUP.EXE. (Do not perform uninstall -
install over the current setup.). This will migrate all the CS-RCS
settings to the new version.
- Load the new activation key.
- Re-install all workstations.
